During my engineering internship at Oberon, I designed a new product for the 1039 In-Plane Recessed Mount product line to mount an Aruba access point. The 1039 product line consists of suspended-ceiling mounting systems that recess WiFi access points into ceiling tiles while keeping the front face of the access points exposed. Using sheet metal design in Autodesk Inventor, I developed the trim and mounting bracket for the new configuration while maintaining compatibility with the existing 1039 tile bridge. I also incorporated design changes used throughout the product line, including bracket modifications for improved fit within the universal tile bridge and changes in the thickness and material of the trim pieces.

Throughout the design process, I worked with the assembly of the individual components to make sure the access point could be properly integrated into the product. I incorporated the trim and bracket into the subassembly and completed the top-level assembly with the universal tile bridge and the sub-assembly.
