Landing Gear Housing Part Project

This project was what first sparked my interest in mechanical engineering. I volunteered to take on a project where I was responsible for redesigning a part used in the landing gear of an airplane. To do this, I took precise measurements using calipers and recreated the part in Autodesk Inventor. I went through multiple iterations using additive manufacturing, testing and adjusting the design each time to improve fit and functionality. Through this process, I was able to produce a working and successful final product. I later presented my project to the assistant principal and the District Board of Education during a tour of the high school’s STEM lab, where I explained my design process and the steps I took to reach the final result.
